1. What materials do magnets attract?
Ferrous (metal) materials are strongly attracted by a magnetic force. The elements iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), and cobalt (Co) are the most commonly available elements. Steel is ferromagnetic because it is an alloy (combination) of iron and other metals.
2. What are neodymium magnets?
A neodymium magnet is a powerful permanent (non electromagnetic) magnet. They are called rare-earth because neodymium is a member of the rare-earth elements on the periodic table (60 Nd). Neodymium magnets are the strongest of the rare earth and permanent magnets in the world!
3. Will the magnets in StickQuik™ lose strength over time?
Very little is lost. If they are not over heated or physically damaged, neodymium magnets will lose less than 1% of their strength over 10 years. This is not enough to notice unless you have very sensitive measuring equipment. Above all, the magnets won’t even lose their strength if they are held in repelling or attracting positions with other magnets over long periods of time.
4. Can the bands be used in the dishwasher?
Yes! Even after being run through the sanitary cycles on our dishwashers we found no loss of magnet strength or change in silicone! The neodymium magnet in each StickQuik™ is coated so they won’t corrode in long exposures of water.
5. How can I clean my bands?
We recommend using a cloth dampened with soapy water for cleaning. However, a cloth dampened with window cleaner works better for heavier soiled bands.
6. How far can they stretch?
They can stretch to about twice their size. StickQuik™ should only be stretched twice its size when applying to an item. But, to prevent the bands from tearing, do not leave bands over twice its size stretched for extended periods of time.
7. Is StickQuik ™ hard to apply?
StickQuik™ is easy to stretch over a tool, utensil or implement. A dab of water or window cleaner can help the silicone slide easier to position on the item.
8. Do both the 3/8" & 1/2" diameter bands hold the same weight?
Yes! Both the 3/8″ & 1/2″ bands have the same neodymium magnet embedded. The only difference between them is the size of the band diameter. They can hold up to 2lbs!
9. What about the 3/4" diameter band? How much weight can it hold?
Our 3/4″ StickQuik™ has a larger magnet than the 3/8” & 1/2″ sized bands. It can hold up to 3lbs!
10. Will StickQuik™ retain the shape of the tool or utensil handle after being on a tool for while?
No. After being removed, because of the properties of the silicone, StickQuik™ bounces back to its original shape.
